LADY GOLDEN EAGLES WRAP UP THE YEAR WITH 72-53 ROAD WIN AGAINST PANTHERS
Washington County Community College used a balanced scoring attack and a decisive third quarter to pull away from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, 72–53, on Saturday afternoon in Albany.
After a tight opening quarter (WCCC up 13–11) and a modest halftime edge (31–25), Washington County broke the game open in the third. WCCC outscored Albany 23–13 in the period, turning a six-point lead into a 54–38 cushion and effectively seizing control the rest of the way. Albany played the fourth quarter even on effort, but the deficit was too large to erase as Washington County closed out the 19-point win.
Golden Eagles shot 39.4% overall (26-for-66) and leaned heavily on the three-point line, hitting 11 triples on 26 attempts (42.3%). Kiarra Maxwell and Trinity Yocum were the headliners, each scoring 18 points. Maxwell added four made threes (4-for-6) and nine rebounds, while Trinity Yocum drilled four threes of her own (4-for-7) and piled up five steals.
Donajah Watkins filled the stat sheet with 15 points, eight assists, and five steals in a full 40-minute effort, helping Washington County consistently generate good looks and pressure Albany into mistakes. Tobie Yocum added a strong all-around line of 13 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists as WCCC won the rebounding battle in key moments and got production up and down the lineup.
Albany was led by Sam Howland's 20 points and a dominant 17-rebound performance (including nine offensive boards). Ava Gaspie added 16 points, and Adora Cho chipped in nine while making three three-pointers.
Washington County turned that pressure into opportunities, recording 16 steals and repeatedly disrupting Albany's rhythm—especially during the third-quarter swing.
